Someone on Facebook mentioned something I thought was interesting... They said something like "twenty years ago kids used to drive to high school with rifles in the back of their trucks - what changed?".
It made me think.
Twenty years ago kids used to go hunting with a rifle. Hunting was their hobby. While this is of course a hobby for a lot people, now there is a new hobby - the "gun enthusiast". This is someone who doesn't hunt or need a firearm for protection, but instead someone who likes firearms for all the wrong reasons. They think it's cool to have a firearm, because it makes them feel powerful. Hunters have rifles where as "gun enthusiasts" like to send 180 rounds per minute downrange.
Big difference between the two.
