You are right about how we classify the stats, I just find it calling them school shootings is misleading and you know why.
You can go ahead and ban everything you want. The bigger issue really is mental health and increases in security and acting on tips. There are 350 Million guns in the United states right now. The guns are out there and you aren't getting them back. So I think the discussions needed to be had need to be in regards to security which would be the quickest solution
Why are no mass shootings happening in Black or Jewish schools? Because they have had detection and protection for years and years. Why would it be so bad for white kids?

You are expecting a golden bullet change that will fix things overnight. It would take a while to get assault weapons, large magazines, stockpiles of guns out of "non-criminals, hands.
A problem that has been building up for decades, will take decades to get right. The only quick fix is to lock down schools the way airports are locked down. But that would just make malls or similar dangerous places. The people who do this choose schools because they are soft targets. Make them safer and the mass shooters will choose nightclubs, hotels, song festivals, malls, etc to carry out the shootings.
