I judge by actions, by events, not rhetoric. So when someone points out what I can observe with my own eyes and ears I tend to believe them, regardless of how uncomfortable it may make me feel.
Every country, including Germany, Italy, Spain and Russia (run by Fascists all) had the majority of their citizens going, "This couldn't happen here!" But it did. There's a lesson there, and those who ignore history are bound to repeat it.

The older I get the more I notice nothing really changes.... What happens in Washington DC has very little effect on me. But fixing the pot hole down the street has a huge impact on my life.
