Personal fav is Agedashi tofu which uses medium soft tofu. Agedashi tofu you will find in most Japanese restaurants, very easy to make at home though, with harder tofus I tend to slice and marinate in soya and sweet chilli sauce or the likes and then bbq them.
And for fucks sake tell the girlfriend to keep off the fake chicken and fake corn dogs,.. btw watched daughter-in-law eat fake roasted Turkey for Xmas... drives me fucking insane.

You said it very well, I agree. Some asian dishes uses tofu which taste really good but on some dishes they don't taste good. I have some friends who really don't like it, no matter how it is cooked or presented
