Honestly it was just one of those domains with expiration email warnings going right to spam. I am an idiot for not seeing it, absolutely, but really, if happened between me and you, I wouldn't kick you when you were down.

Thanks for the tip. I was approached about it awhile back but they wanted too much for it.
As I said, I'd give the domain back to whoever had it in the first place. But would make sure to remind them to put that thing on auto renew!
