I'm partial to curley coated retrievers myself but they are hard to come across and longer waiting lists.

yeah none of that is true and all myth. All dogs and all breeds are just as susceptible to health variances like any other living creature. Whether you go to a breeder or not changes nothing. I have seen good things with shelters and I have heard horror stories with shelters. I have seen amazing things with top breeders and horrific things with top breeders with regards to practices and how they treat the animals.
