I'm guessing the dog did something to piss her off earlier. Besides the fact that it's cruel to do that to a helpless animal, there's also the stupidity of punishing a dog for bad behavior. The dog has no idea why it's being punished and it only serves to make the owner feel better. All you're doing is creating a fear based relationship.fucking moron too.
I've seen my father-in-law smack his dog on the nose all the time. I asked him if he ever thought of rewarding the dog for good behavior instead of hitting him every time he's bad.
