At the end of the day, the voters don't make laws, they elect officials to do it. The republicans want to stay in office. If they can't raise money because people believe they are going to lose, they will leave office. It appears the national mood is 10 - 15% more democrat leaning OR republicans are not turning out. Either way, Trump is already hobbled by the media, so he will not be like Clinton and recover. He will continue to be attacked and will therefore probably lose in 2020 or choose not to run.
Again, Trump is smarter than I am. I try not to underestimate him. But what path does he have?

The establishment is willing to throw the elections to get rid of Trump if they have to. But they are calculating there the same way they calculated 2016. Just watch the Zuckerberg testimony to see that they hope to be in full control of the narrative by election time. They keep rehashing this.
What options does he have? The investigations going on in the background that no one (MSM) is really talking about. Trump is playing along to get along until he can drop those in their lap. Keep in mind the person who warned him about Obama's spying operations is sitting at the helm of the intelligence apparatus'. He sees everything. He is the man behind the curtain. He is set to retire soon. I don't think he will be leaving a job unfinished.
