I suspect you are correct and so does Trump - However NK could easily get a nuke into South Korea or Japan - That would be enough to destabilize the whole world's status quo - It could cause WW3 at worst or a meltdown that would make 2008 look like a 'blip' at best - That gives them immense power...
NK have the upper hand and that's why they are coming to the table now - They have the rest of the world over a barrel - Threatening the US was a distraction.....
