This is an Armenian surname and Armenians are almost 100 pct. Christian, so while the modus operandi would fit vehicular Jihad, an Islamic influence is unlikely unless this would be a convert or with roots in the Armenian diaspora in Turkey or Iran.
So far the motivation seems like some kind of a nihilistic nutter movement, this "beta uprising" appears like some sort of Emo frustration on steroids, lot of the recent perpetrators of random mass violence perfectly fit that frustrated young outsider profile, usually on some sort of medication on top of that.
