I don't think black people should use all that you laid out as an excuse for anything....but I do think it's good for white people to keep in perspective what it must be like to live in a country where your ancestors were brutalized by a certain group of people. That has to sit there in the back of every African-American's mind when interacting with white people and know that you need to live in the present and not let that bother you. It would drive me crazy.

White people today shouldn't have to feel guilty or ashamed of what their ancestors did, but they should at least keep that history in perspective.
