Bank account hacked and hit with email bomb at same time
Interesting technique. Started receiving literally thousands of subscription emails from what looked like mostly all legitimate sites. Everything from wordpress sites to just regular newsletter subscriptions.
Then in the middle of that hailstorm of emails came one from my bank saying there was a successful email money transfer to a stranger for $2800. Just got lucky that I even seen it in that flurry of emails.
The sad part is over a year ago I got hacked too and it ended up being inside employee at the bank. I have no doubt this is somehow related. My banking password is the one thing I do keep secure and never use on any other sites. And there's only 2 computers i do online banking on and they are both clean.
What a complete pain in the ass. Only thing I don't understand is how a small portion of the emails came through as though I had already verified the subscription. I changed my email password just in case. Is there a way for a spammer to sign up to a list with someone else's email address and somehow get it verified without actually having access to that email address?
