I also don't see China allowing that.

The South China sea has been in contention for a while now and China's been building them up since Obama, if memory serves. But in that case, SK is closer, and strategic.
Chinas already started moving into the South Pacific, Trump gave them that green card to proceed the day he cancelled TTP. The islands have been going on for nearly 20 years, however its only in the past year they have gone from construction sites to fully loaded military bases right under Trumps watch. And that baffles me..

North Korea is a resource rich country, much of it untouched, its virgin lands for oil exploration and mining. When ever there's big money at play.. who knows what the real game is, USA, China, Russia and South Korea all stand to make trillions

Kim holds all the cards, "if he can get those sanctions removed". A peace treaty does not resolve what the threat was 60 years ago.. Chinese communism taking over North Korea, it actually expediates it, unless its countered economically, currently done by sanctions. Take those away and then it's a race between USA, China and maybe Russia as to who can exploit NK the most.

My bet is with Xi.
