Rochard calls them "dancing fighters", but they are really thought to use knives as doctors - fast and painless ;) The Soviet Union was using a very simple tactic against Taliban in Afghanistan. They simple dropped the "VDV dancers" literally to the heads of mujaheddins, and those mujaheddins were slaughtered like sheep in a minute. The situation has changed when Americans have started to deliver "Stingers" to Taliban, so those were able to take down a helicopter with all people on the board. So the Soviet Army has lost 15 thousands of people there. But the brave Afghan mujaheddins have thanked the USA for their efforts on 9/11 - crash, boom, bang and there are no NYC twins. It was a very simple logic: "you deliver "Stingers" to us and we attack your country". Unfortunately Americans are real stupid to understand that there can not be a deal with radical Islamists.
P.S. If you want to see something misery and extremely humiliating, watch Rambo III. Personally I've seen it a couple months ago by the local TV
