Looks like its possible to grab screenshots from remote videos too using ffmpeg:

That still downloads up to the point that you want to take the screenshot of it, so if your wanting to take screens of the entire video, then your better off just downloading it the 1 time, and then using ffmpegthumbnailer to take thumbs of it
