I doubt anyone except for a few diehard trump loyalists ever believed trump had an actually serious chance at a nobel prize. he's the same guy who bragged at a UN convention about killing people or something to that effect.
Nevertheless, the very liberal prof who laid out the explanation in the article does in fact trace the entire debacle back to Moon playing the only cards he had, flattering trump by claiming he should win a nobel for his part in the nk/sk peace and by overstating Un's willingness to denuke.
it was a gambit Moon had no choice but to make, as the article shows.
