What should have happened was for everyone to just sit in the restaurant calmly. Be prepared to dodge bullets if the alleged shooter is so inclined to shoot in your direction. Wait for the police to arrive, so they can try to determine if a crime has been committed. And if so, turn the matter over to the DA, as its now a matter of the law.
That citizen shouldn't have been armed, and shouldn't have shot the alleged shooter. I can't wait for gun control to take full effect, so this madness might end someday. That citizen took the law into his own hands, and that should be a crime.
