btw that dog ended up impregnating a dog from the neighbors, it was funny as fuck to see him barking at an almost identical dog a while later... it was his son
I got his ears cropped purely for aesthetic reasons, and to avoid futher ear infection issues. When I was kid we had a Boxer, got the top of his ears snipped, and bandaged for a few weeks no big deal. However if I would have known the ear cropping on this Great Dane was different, to the extent that it is, I would not have done it. With all the research I did I never saw any mention of how they cut and stitch the lower 3 inches of ear, fold it over, and stitch it together. I guess this is the way they help there very long ears stand up which is different than a boxers ears. So it's like someone took the bottom half of your ear pinched it together and then sewed it together. Awful

My vet says you can't cut off a Great Danes balls before they are done growing or it will likely cause skeletal issues and that 1-2 years old. That being said I've never spayed or neutered any of my dogs. The removing the hormones like that isn't natural IMO and my dogs aren't going to go out and get anyone pregnant they are house dogs. That being said, my vet told me that the reason my old female dog has had breast cancer twice is because she was not fixed and as they get to old age the hormones can start to cause damage. So maybe an old-age times I'll get them fixed but not for many many years
