Regardless of how you come down on trade issues, the above quote is the end result. Would the US suffer in a trade war - sure. But the US controls it's own destiny and everyone else will suffer MORE if they want to fight. They know it and now we have a President who knows it.

I have a hard time believing that people here negotiate in their own lives the way they expect Trump or the US to negotiate with other countries. You look for a win/win if you can, but you don't negotiate to lose.
