If you were to learn how to say NO and stop doing charity work for unappreciative people, they'd turn on you in an instant and think nothing of it. And some may very well turn on you anyway, AFTER they get what they want from you. Its a way of sending the message: "I'm not in debt to you for what you've done. So don't ever expect a damn thing in return for it."
Doing kind things for people is respectable. But to most people, its viewed as weakness to be taken advantage of. Its a lose-lose situation for you. So instead, I'd suggest you devote of your time and energy into bettering yourself, not others.
