He didn't go through normal process, he pardoned those two because of who asked him, not because of his beliefs

to be fair it's not on the president to go fishing for individual pardon cases that need looking into. In almost all cases it is brought forward to them by someone first, normally not celebrities i guess, but this isn't much different.
