A U.S. Border Patrol agent was shot in southern Arizona early Tuesday, the agency said in a statement. The unidentified agent was wounded around 4:30 a.m. local time and rushed to a hospital. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) tweeted that several people were arrested in the area and that more information would be provided as it becomes available. The agency also noted that the shooting remains an active investigation and the FBI and CBP's Office of Professional Responsibility are involved.
