Maybe, but I don't think it matters. The money these comicons generate is sickening. Think about this:
- People line-up and spend hours in line waiting to...
- Pay an average of $70 for a photo, AND
- Pay an average of $70 for an Autograph.
When you get your photo taken with a celeb, you are in the booth with the celeb, and out 15 seconds later. "HelloNiceToMeetYouI'maBigFanCLICKThankyouBye! " If we want to be generous and say 1 photo per minute, that is still $4200 per hour for photos, and another $4200 per hour for pictures. Each autograph session and each photo session is about 3 hours long, and the shows last for 2 days usually, sometimes 3).
That means B-list Celebs make about $25000 for this. And, it's all cash too. No credit cards, no debit cards. Cash cash sweet cash. And this is on top of any other fees they ask for, plus free Hotel and meals and other perks.
A-listers (by Comicon standards anyway) charge $120 for photos and about $90 for autographs and walk away with about $40,000 after all this. And they do several cons (Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, etc). Sweet.
