In the real terms, with absence of any real program apart from platitudes about "diversity" and swinging the hammer of political correctness, one could indeed say that the future of DNC pretty much depends on importing enough of this "diversity" aka future third-world voters that can benefit from all sorts of sanctuary policies and racial preferences (affirmative action).
Such policies simply do not and can not work for the working and middle class of European origin (which is officially discriminated against in terms of affirmative action).

If we would take this, then it would appear that in just 23 years since 1994, both sides have become widely incapable of withstanding each other.
While the conservative voters should be, theoretically (by its text book definition) less open to the opposing view. What one can observe is that the rate of not being open to the other side grew at much larger proportion in the opposing direction, thus among the "liberal" side.
