Mr PN, on a serious, friendly,... well meaning note, I would say this. "JUST STOP IT NOW" is a very tough message to support when "IT" is not defined.
Right now "IT" is just an idea in peoples heads and is highly subjective and without facts.
Further, "IT" is the subject of Democrats literally crying on tv spots, on the senate floor and on news programs for political points.
"IT" is the reason to call other Americans "Nazis". It's happening on major news networks right now. I watched a report counting the use of the word "Nazi" from the Left and network news. It's absurd. It's petty. It certainly isn't the behavior or people who have a great point to make.
The situation on the border is complicated. Children are mixed with criminals, drug smugglers, sex traffickers, human traffickers, cartel members, gang members, wanted felons, people who have been deported countless times etc etc etc etc and on top of that, we don't know what "IT" is. We don't know what the exact process is, how long it takes or anything at all. How does anyone know who the parent is of a child if no one has documents and kids are being terrorized by traffickers?
If you want people to side against "IT", then you have to provide a clear definition of what "IT" is. Not just debate a vague, subjective idea while acting like anyone that doesn't have that visceral reaction to an ill-defined notion is a horrible human being. That doesn't bring anyone closer on an issue either.
Everyone agrees that "kids and parents should be together"... but when it comes to real questions like should "criminal and kid be together" or "should cartel member and kid be together" or "human trafficker and kid be together", "should sex trafficker and kid be together", "should wanted murderer and kid be together" or "is it ok to separate them for a couple hours to process everyone and figure things out", then it starts to get a little more murky and much more complicated than just "stop tearing families apart"
