What the average US citizen, even well informed ones know about putin is what our press wants them to know. From what I understand the average person in Russia knows about the same about Ronald Regan. The interesting part is that talking to people in Russia about Putin is a lot like talking to Republicans about Regan....He is held in very high regard he is seen as having saved the economy and restored national pride. Indeed he is an authoritarian figure as was Regan.
Admitted the scopr of my knowledge is confined to the few people I know and have dealt with there but the consensus is that Putin is a national hero
