Cohen was given copies of these documents once the FBI compiled them. Here is my hunch.. Cohen, knew he was fucked and has made a deal with Muller to flip in order to get a better deal for himself. He probably made this deal a week or two ago. Soon as he knew he was fucked..

Muller's team as part of that agreement had Cohen leak these documents to buzzfeed in order to get a reaction out of Trump. It's pretty standard stuff that the FBI or SC would do in a case like this.

The POTUS is under investigation for obstruction of justice not just the Russia stuff. Leaking non essential stuff to the press in order to gauge a target of a investigation's reaction would be pretty standard tactic..

Regardless, the FBI/SC can leak things to the press in a active investigation if it fills a need to pressure someone. It's also a very standard tactic and not illegal or against the law. I see as they move in closer and closer to Trump we will see more leaks like this to push Trump into a corner so they can see what he does. It's very typical tactic in major cases like these and letting Trump know his personal lawyer has flipped with out actually stating it officially will make Trump nuts with speculation.
