Hundreds of new layoffs hit Tennessee hard - 358 just this week

I thought the economy was "booming"? When will Trump supporters realize the stock market doesn't represent the economy, it represents confidence in the economy.

TEC - 238 layoffs

East Tennessee Brain and Spine Center - 61 layoffs

First Tennessee Bank - 58 layoffs

Heres a full list of thousands of layoffs coming in August, and that took place the previous month

TEC Industrial layoffs to take effect July 16; More than 200 impacted

Soon hundreds of workers in the Tri-Cities will be out of work. Recently, three companies in our region reported layoffs to the state.

Back in May, News Channel 11 reported TEC Industrial in Kingsport filed an "official notice" with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The company filed the notice on April 30.

The notice states revealed layoffs of 238 workers effective July 16.

News Channel 11 reached out to TEC on May 4 to ask them about the notice.

An employee said told News Channel 11 we would have to talk to the company's CEO, who said they were not available to talk that day.

According to a state record, the local workforce development board will be responsible for the oversight and followup of the workers impacted by this layoff.

Also, East Tennessee Brain and Spine Center filed a WARN notice with the state citing 61 workers will be impacted by layoffs at its facility located at 701 Med Tech Parkway, Suite 300 in Johnson City, TN. Those layoffs took effect June 30.

And First Tennessee Bank reported to the state it would lay off 58 workers in our region. The address listed on the WARN notice is 100 North Main Street in Greeneville, TN. Those layoffs also took effect June 30.
