Your idea may have some merit. The naturalized U.S. citizen families are extremely radical in having their Central American families reside here in the States.
Green card holders can only vote in local and state elections. These polling stations can use law enforcement for intimidation to deter voter fraud.
I do not understand why they are willing to leave living in a shack on a dirt floor / Come to the United States to live in another shack with a plywood floor / run down heat magnified shipping container to harvest crop.
