The only places that seem to still get away with the "grunge" around here are a few roadside BBQ trailers and those are always the best places to eat. Once a week stop for me is and old carnival food trailer with a wood shed as a smoke house in a parking lot of a plumbing co. (Definitely a destination spot for you CS lol) The owner of the plumbing co does all the smoking/cooking and tends to the customers while his crews are out.
