Trump can't control other countries stopping their tariffs. I have a feeling they'll ratchet theirs up as the elections get closer and you can guarantee they will not stop there tariffs until they make a lot more money than us.

other countries can´t make ore money in a trade war.
actually the US is an important market for the world and the sales to US will be missed.
but no other country that is still open for global free trade will not be effected that much as US is on the long run.
on top of that nobody will make a contract with a liar and someone who gives a shit on contracts.
the point is that on one side nobody (except trump) wants a trade war - on the other hand nobody can rely on trump and want to make any deal with him.
I think especially in Europe people think that he have to learn it the hard way and if Europe suffers for a while everyone will accept it.
the president of france already said that he don´t want to make any deal with trump and france do have a strong voice in the EU. I think the EU is playing on time as they all assume that he will be out after the midterms. what juncker have agreed for now is that everything is as it is. no new tariffs but also no change on the situation.
he spoke about a "long term plan with the united states". if someone speaks about "long term" in that case means clearly, that trump is not included in that.
