Yeah stealing the garage door opener is a red flag they'll be back damn. So sorry this happened to you
Did you file a police report? If not , do so. It needs to be on record this happened. When you file they'll tell you what neighbors have had break-ins and or attempted break-ins and they'll likely increase police patrols in your area.
I have a Glock 19 but the thing that really makes me feel safe is an all wood, hardwood mahogany war axe (I call it my hatchet ) I bought from a tribe in Fiji it cracks open coconuts and watermelon with almost no effort. They call it a "neckbreaker" (like mine pictured below)
