What I think he should do is approach Apple. Apple is worth a Trillion dollars and has a shitload of cash. If they could step in with a big investment AND provide management support at the same time, it would turn Tesla around overnight.
I agree with Celandina - Musk is way too smart to let this fall apart and lets face it - Tesla's cars are game changers. The world needs more electric cars, and there's a huge customer base for electric cars. If Tesla can deliver what they promised and compete against GM and other companies rolling out electric cars, then Tesla will survive and flourish.

There's a big difference: putting cars together is slightly more complex than phones.
Apple just pays Foxconn but Tesla has to build their cars themselves and in the case of Model 3 it's a big fail so far.
And you can't just move that to a different sub-contractor.
