They are going through an identity crisis. This is a bad sign for them.
Earlier this week I saw they were pitching some Twitter campaign with the hashtag: #SubTheBurger
Instead of showcasing their product, they chose to bash an American favorite, the hamburger. Not a positive way of marketing and another sign of desperation.
There are a lot of sandwich chains these days. I can count half a dozen within 2 blocks of me. They are feeling it, hard.
