Well, look at it from a different perspective.
Let's say you're gay. And you go into a gay bar full of gay people. And you stand up on a chair and say, "Attention everybody. I'd like to make an announcement. I'm gay!"
The response to that would be stares, and crickets. Eventually someone will say, "Yeah? So? Who gives a fuck?"
Where's the fun in that?
However, if you do it in an environment where there's some potential for someone to be shocked or offended, at least in a roundabout way there's someone giving a fuck.
