actually, that's not at all the concept Richard, you should stop making things up.
The reason ALL US Federal Judges get lifetime appointments is to "ensure the integrity of the power granted to them and protect them from unwarranted interference from the executive and legislative branches of the government".
and there's actually nothing in the Constitution that states they get lifetime appointments. What the Constitution states is they can hold their appointment "during good behavior" with no necessity to resign otherwise
