Fourteen hours later. Still feel okay? What was inside, meat and veggies? For fifty cents I’d expect a one-bite burrito and an ounce of filling! Sounds like you got a good deal.

Cheapest restaurant in recent years is a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. Combination plates with main dish, appetizer and fried rice for $5.50 and $1.00 for Won Ton, Hot & Sour or Egg Drop soup. (I get Orange Chicken but not deep-fried; he stir-frys it for me). I get two meals from it, too .

The chef was a doctor in China, came here with wife and opened restaurants. He’ll make mine with no salt or soy sauce BUT has the brains to add garlic and spice to add flavor. Others leave it out and it’s bland.

I’m afraid of food trucks or food carts. Got food poisoning at eighteen at the huge Portuguese festival. I got cacoila (ka’ser’la) or pork on a stick, barbecued with Portuguese spices, and loved it. Next night me and three friends spent hours vomiting with diarrhea. Two of us ended up at the ER with fever, chills, and more. Overnight stay and a warning not to eat protein at outdoor restaurants.

But, it can happen at five-star restaurants, too.
