Godaddy Rant

For the most part I have been happy with GoDaddy, but had an experience the other day that was unfortunate. Partly my fault, though.

So I had it set up to send emails to an email account I hardly ever use. Which is fine because usually it's about automatic renewals and stuff. This time, though, it was a copyright complaint. Since I didn't respond in time, my site got suspended, which is what brought all this to my attention.

Anyhoo, the complaint was for a profile image from a cam program on a sub-domain gallery splog where I test feeds and tools and stuff and push some select programs. The image came from one of those RSS feeds, so it was hotlinked - ie, hosted on the program, not me.

So a HOSTING company receives a complaint and suspends a site without first verifying that the material is in fact hosted on that site. I pointed this out to them, but they didn't care. In order to get access back to my site I had to send an official mea culpa statement before I could remove the post.

All in all, it wasn't a horrible experience, but the inanity of it was a big frustrating. And an entire day spent constantly checking my email for a response from them because there is no other way to contact their copyrightclaims department directly.

FYI, if you promote PussyCash/Webcamwiz and want to skip the hassle, the profile pic in question is for a 'NightFoxxy.'
