Nicaragua has a total population of a little over 6 million. We could probably accept the bottom 30% who are in the very worst situations. I don't think the U.S. should automatically accept every applicant for asylum, but I think they should all be considered. There's a lot more we could do.
We do have 30% of the worlds wealth and 4.28% of it's population, so more than any other country in the world we're in a position to help people who don't have enough to survive. At a certain point though, to access that wealth, it would have to come out of the hands of private owners.
