a little bit late I would say.
you can not marry a women and complain later that she is a women.
i wonder why nobody was complaining that they joined the EU without such a vote.
no country was forced to join it. everyone came without any force and they KNEW
that it is something what have to grow and they KNEW that they have joined just a bigger family with even more different ideas.

- Irish government and the EU should have lived with the democratic Irish 'NO' vote against the EU constitution, now rebranded as the 'Lisbon Treaty'. But they chose to ignore democracy because the outcome was unwanted, so they just held a second referendum. Great tactic. Let the people constantly come to vote on the exact same thing so they don't believe in democracy anymore until it gets the desired outcome. A spit in the face of democracy.
- Dutch government and the EU should have lived with the democratic Dutch 'NO' vote against the EU treaty with Ukraine after EU's coup there. But they chose to ignore our democratic vote and push it through anyway.
The Brits voted 'NO' to stay in the EU. It's called democracy. If you don't like it, tough luck just live with it. But the EU is trying every trick in the book to not let them leave (blackmail is one of them). And May doesn't have the passion and the ambition herself to fully honor the vote, she's just another EU lacky. So it will probably be a half assed attempt, making the UK a shadow member of the EU while lying to the public that they're not in the EU anymore.
The democratic vote will not be honored, that's a guarantee. No vote of the people against the EU, in the history of the EU, has ever been honored and is always ignored. Fact. Which is the factual opposite of a democracy.

these referenda took place 13 years ago. shortly after the EU was founded and in which it still had all the childhood diseases of the world.
one of the childhood diseases is the lack of a common constitution.
if you had taken these referenda so seriously, you could have given up the whole idea immediately.
you can't vote to go on the bus but vote against filling it up with petrol.
so you're right when you say that the basis of democracy here has been ignored but for the sake of another democratic decision made before.
the states you mentioned didn't just come to the EU - they founded the EU !!!!!!!!
i donīt say that the EU is perfect but from the view of prosperity it brings us more advantages as disadvantages.
the biggest mistake the EU ever did was to let some of the eastern countries join it.
the people there are still far away from understanding democracy. some of them are in fact enemies of democracy and this makes it so hard right now.
you have the same problem even in Germany where you see a big difference of democracy understanding between east and west.
even there it will take one or 2 generations more to make people fit for a bigger society that cares each other. they are still used to think that society is their house and the 2 neighbors left and right from them.
but this world is more than just a street. this world can only exist as a big and global society. every single country on this planet is able to poise the whole world and not only the street they live in. this is why it is necessary to think global and not local.
if we would think local you could not even afford to put pepper on your steak or you would not even be able to buy a steak because the few dutch cows would just be enough for a small privileged group. but maybe you can cook something delicious out of tulip onions (in case your left or right neighbor have some and share it with you).
