And don't believe the term "starving artist". Look within your 5 ft radius. Unless you're sitting on a log in the wilderness, you'll see art which was created by paid artists.... whether it's a calendar on your wall, the tshirt design you're wearing or the label on the jar of mayonnaise you just pulled out of the fridge.

plenty of art that requires serious training/education- ballet, music. many with raw talent need the structure of education to bring out their talents. there are very few self-taught piano players. also, disciplines like history and such. we need history teachers. that requires education.
