On June 11, 2010, Edgar J. Steele was arrested and charged with trying to pay someone to murder his wife of 25 years and her mother. A witness said Steele offered to pay as much as $125,000 for the job. He was convicted on May 5, 2011, on four federal counts and sentenced to 50 years in prison.
