It's not the most powerful machines that Apple offers, but then again it can ship with latest Final Cut Pro X.
Personally I just need a machine for mostly web stuff, so I would run Final Cut, Photoshop, Skype, email, and the usual light stuff. I would buy the 6 core CPU even though I probably don't need it. I care mostly about file throughput, so an SSD hard drive, 10GB Ethernet and fast ram is what catches my attention first.
My 2 x iMacs are configured to act as 1 big desktop which is a bit of a waste for one of the 2 machines, and buying 2 x new iMacs is overkill.
The Mac Pro is faster but the basic configuration I want chimes-in at over $4200 and besides, the technology that the current model is based on is a few years old, and in video rendering is not nearly as fast as the new Macbook pro.
