And... there it is. As i already mentioned... There's the famous Muslim excuse for documented atrocities in the name of God.... "everyone was doing it" and "it was a different time then"... but of course, we must remember that "God is love", "God is merciful", "God is all forgiving" and if your city was razed to the ground, your family was brutally murdered, your children raped, your property seized etc... well so be it.
BUT.. the take home message of course is love, peace, forgiveness etc etc. and when that is called into question... just default to "well, everyone was doing it" and we're supposed to believe that in this case, everyone was doing it because it was the will of God, condoned by God, endorsed by God... but still... God is merciful, peaceful, loving and forgiving etc etc etc... and if your head was sawed off with a dull knife for being a Jew who refused to convert but still worships the same god and practices what is almost entirely the same religion.. well, that's just what God wants.
