How stupid does someone have to be to still support this moron?

In an interview with the Daily Caller yesterday Trump claimed

“If you buy a box of cereal — you have a voter ID. They try to shame everybody by calling them racist, or calling them something, anything they can think of, when you say you want voter ID. But voter ID is a very important thing.”

He then went on to say people vote, go to their car and change their shirt and vote again

“When people get in line that have absolutely no right to vote and they go around in circles. Sometimes they go to their car, put on a different hat, put on a different shirt, come in and vote again. Nobody takes anything. It’s really a disgrace what’s going on.”

Trump claims an ID is needed to buy cereal and that fraudulent voters simply switch hats

Matter of fact Visa/Mastercard explicitly prohibit retailers from requiring an ID to accept a properly signed card.

Both Visa and MasterCard prohibit merchants from requiring customer ID as a condition for accepting their credit or debit cards. All you need is a signed card, and of course the signatures must match.

I have no problem with having to show an ID to vote so long as the states have programs in place to help people get IDs if they need one.

My issue is that almost every one of these voter ID laws also come with some kind of voter suppression attached. They limit the amount of days you can register or shorten early voting, or they shrink the number of voting precincts etc.

If they removed the voter suppression aspect of these laws I would be all for them.

So as a European I have to ask, what kind of identification do you need to vote in the US?

Here they have a list with your name on, and once you've shown an official ID with a photo of yours on it (i.e. passport or driver license) you get crossed of the list and you're allowed to vote.
You're also allocated to a certain location to vote, you can't just go anywhere. And only people on the official list are allowed to vote at that location.

How does that work in the US?

How does that work in the US?

In California we have districts where only people from your area can vote at a polling station.

1) You goto the person at the desk

2) They ask your name & address and they confirm it in their records.

3) They have you sign next to your name on the ledger and write in your address by hand.

4) They give you a voter code to punch into the machine so you can vote

5) You vote at the machine

6) After voting the machine prints out your votes

7) You confirm the paper copy is correct and hit Yes. Your vote is complete.

So for someone to cheat they need to know your address, know that you aren't signed up to vote by mail, know you haven't voted yet & have a signature like yours.

Different states have different rules & procedures for voting it's stupid.

Here they have a list with your name on, and once you've shown an official ID with a photo of yours on it (i.e. passport or driver license) you get crossed of the list and you're allowed to vote.
You're also allocated to a certain location to vote, you can't just go anywhere. And only people on the official list are allowed to vote at that location.

How does that work in the US?

Pretty much the same way. In my state (and a couple others) we vote by mail. They mail you out a ballot a few weeks before the election and you either mail it back or drop it in one of many voter drop boxes located around cities.

For those states without vote by mail, you show up at a polling station (most states have assigned polling stations but will let you vote at another, again it depends on the state which is one of the problems) and you tell them your name. If they have a voter ID law you have to show the a valid, accepted ID which is normally a driver's license, a passport, military ID, etc. There is a list of acceptable voter ID for each state. You are then allowed to vote and are removed from the list.
