Russia is strictly in top 3 military countries in the world.
Together with US and China. And yes, NATO as military bloc is luckily still the strongest one in the world. Both military and economically.
Now, as for Russia - I would never underestimate them... They have:
a) tough people in general - history is the best example for that
b) some clever minds working for IT and military. always good in military equipment since decades. they even have their own navigation system, independent from GPS (glonass)
c) NUKES of course
d) very advanced and smart intelligence agencies. They sometimes fuck the things up, but its not only about actions like with Skripals. Its usually abo0ut propaganda, subversion, misinformation to win the war and weak the enemy sometimes without even shooting one shot. Russia Today and the army of RUS trolls working online everywhere is the best example for that.
e) politically not afraid and NOT undecisive to do quick covert actions, like sending commando here and there and so on.
f) also, its a country with HUGE reserrves of minerals like oil, gas, gold, diamonds and mnay others. also, huge (and cold) country in general. look at history of ww2 for example what does it mean. and if you combine it with a)....
So in my opinion you are totally wrong.
