Mostly these exploits happen via brute force logins on insecure Wordpress installations. Every one of them happens over port 80 (you know that port for websites) so blocking port 80 would simply make your website inaccessible.
The prevention measures are simple, run up to date code (Wordpress & Plugins) and use strong passwords. You don't need to worry about blocking ports.
