All of the networks had to decide to cover it or not.
Take Trump out of it. Didn't Obama once request to address the nation, and the networks said no?
The networks lose money when they do this. They don't want to do this. When they do this, the network heads meet at the White House and discuss if they should do it or not. Did CNN pressure the other networks not to air the speech? Sure. I am sure a number of networks were against it.
We need to stop this crap against the news networks. For the networks this is a business decision, not a political one.
