I actually set up a couple of amazon kids fire tablets at xmas, and decided to try and do it via alexa, just for fun. I literally just said 'Alexa, download the youtube app' and a few mins later it was ready to use.
So your dad could just say 'Alexa, open youtube' or whatever he wants open and its that simple for him
