"Damper wires are visible on Trinitron monitor displays. You may notice one or more fine horizontal lines on your monitor display, particularly on screens with white backgrounds. Larger monitors have two lines; smaller monitors have one line in the bottom third of the screen. These lines are normal and part of the monitor technology.
The damper wires are used to stabilize the vertically striped aperture grill. This aperture grill design allows more light to pass through to the screen, giving the Trinitron CRT more vibrant color and brightness"
